Some artists discover music. For Catherine Flox, music has
always been there.
Growing up in a home filled with the sounds of legendary
artists such as Queen, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Depeche Mode, and ABBA, she
developed a deep connection with music from an early age.
While other children
played games, Catherine was often found running to the television whenever MTV
played one of her favorite songs. She would dance, sing along in her own
improvised version of English, and even pretend to be a rock star with a tennis
racket as her guitar.
Unlike many of her peers, Catherine's musical tastes
followed a different path. The music that surrounded her at school and
university never truly reflected her own preferences. Instead, she remained
loyal to the artists and styles that had inspired her since childhood. Even
today, while she occasionally explores contemporary music, she finds herself
drawn to timeless sounds and authentic artistic expression.
Her passion for music extended beyond listening. Music
classes quickly became her favorite part of school, and later, while studying
at the College of Education, she continued to embrace every opportunity to
deepen her musical knowledge.
A turning point came when Catherine discovered the work of
French music icon Mylène Farmer.
The singer's artistic universe resonated
deeply with her, inspiring Catherine to organize an evening dedicated to
performing Farmer's songs. What began as a tribute project soon opened new
doors. Through the event, she met like-minded musicians and became involved in
two bands, Melange and Figaros Sharks. Although both projects eventually came
to an end due to differing visions and goals, they provided valuable experience
and strengthened her determination to continue creating music.
As her confidence grew, Catherine began sharing her early
musical sketches online through various forums and music communities. She also
performed solo at charity events and open stages for emerging artists,
gradually finding her own voice as a performer.
Like many creative journeys, hers was not without
challenges. After several active years, a period of silence followed. For
nearly six years, her musical activities came to a halt.
But the passion never disappeared.
In December 2021, Catherine returned to music with renewed
energy and purpose. Since then, she has focused on refining her craft,
experimenting with new ideas, and continuously improving the quality and
emotional impact of her work. Her goal is simple: to create music that
captivates listeners and communicates genuine emotion.
For Catherine Flox, music is much more than entertainment.
It is an elixir, a source of strength, a refuge, and a way of experiencing
life's deepest emotions.
Today, she invites listeners to join her on that musical
journey—one filled with passion, authenticity, and the enduring love of music
that has accompanied her since childhood.
